Film Analysis:

Listed at 6-foot-3 and 350 pounds, T’Vondre Sweat will be one of the biggest prospects to enter the NFL draft over the past decade. Sweat utilizes this size to flash dominant play both against the run and when rushing the quarterback from the interior defensive line position.

Against the run, Sweat uses his first-step quickness combined with his overall body mass to generate momentum, knock offensive linemen off the ball, and reestablish the line of scrimmage. Against power/gap inside zone runs, Sweat has natural power and mass that can take on double teams and maintain the line of scrimmage. He has also shown the ability to split double teams and maintain gap integrity. Against outside run plays, Sweat has the lateral agility to prevent from being blocked and can work to maintain leverage on offensive linemen. He also has the quickness to slip the backside of plays and still get to the ball-carrier from the backside of plays.

As a pass rusher, Sweat is a player who is going to use his strength, power, and mass to collapse the pocket. He has the strength to work through offensive linemen and bull rush offensive linemen back into the pocket collapsing the pocket.

Sweat’s biggest concern as a player will be his consistency. Sweat will often flash as the most dominant player on the field, but there will be long moments where Sweat fails to make an impact on the game.

Overall, Sweat has the size, strength, and football IQ to be a dominant interior presence along the defensive line. However, questions of snap count and consistency will come into play as far as how impactful he can consistently be on the next level.
