Senior Bowl Wednesday Practice Winners

The 2024 Senior Bowl is well underway and the impressive athletes in Mobile are making names for themselves with NFL executives, scouts, and fans in attendance. While one must always be careful not to draw too many conclusions based on a single practice, trends do begin to emerge throughout the week.

On Wednesday, there were a handful of players who really stood out and helped their 2024 NFL Draft stock considerably. Let's break them down.

T’Vondre Sweat

IDL, Texas

Dominant. There's no other way to describe Sweat's performance during Wednesday's Senior Bowl practices. While his size—6-foot-4, 350-plus pounds—is the first thing that grabs your attention, he's surprisingly quick for his size with the power you'd expect given his frame.

When Sweat wins a rep, he crushes it. And sometimes, he crushes his opponent to his core. Case in point:

He can also show a little finesse, displaying a swim move that overwhelms and defeats the offensive lineman.

While all eyes will be on Sweat's weigh-in at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine after choosing to not step on the scale in Mobile, Sweat is helping his draft stock in other ways. His compete level has been high throughout the week and his ability to soak up double teams and crush one-on-ones is exactly what NFL teams look for in an early-down 0-tech.

Taliese Fuaga

OT, Oregon State

Those who didn't stay up to watch Pac-12 football may be seeing Fuaga for the first time in Mobile. If you are, how could you not be impressed? He instantly looks the part at 6-foot-6 and 332 pounds and then steals the show once the rep begins. You'd be hard-pressed to find too many "losses" on his film this week, but you'll see plenty of reps like this one:

Fuaga's draft stock was on the rise before the event began, but standing out in an all-star event like the Senior Bowl will send the hype into overdrive. Fuaga is on a clear path to being a top-20 selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. He'll make an NFL team quite happy in a few months.

Darius Robinson

EDGE, Missouri

If you were forced to pick just one winner from Wednesday's Senior Bowl practices, it has to be Robinson. The Missouri star won rep after rep and looks to be the 2024 version of "that pass rusher" who takes over the Senior Bowl conversation. He's putting on a clinic and from the field level, you're hearing the phrase "Round 1" bandied about. He'll appear in a lot more mock drafts moving forward.

Roman Wilson

WR, Michigan

While the 2024 NFL Draft's wide receiver class is loaded, there is a clear WR1 in Mobile so far and it's Wilson. His smooth route-running stands out even among other high-quality pass-catchers and he makes at least one "wow" play every day. Here's the one from Wednesday:

Wilson looks like part of a day-two pick that could make a quick impact in the NFL. His name was circled in many scouts' notebooks heading into the week and he's stealing the show.

Jackson Powers-Johnson

IOL, Oregon

The MVP of the first two days of practices is undoubtedly Powers-Johnson. He's maybe—maybe—lost one rep in two days. Whether lined up at center or guard, Powers-Johnson is smooth, quick-thinking, and completely unpanicked when pressed. You want a day-one starter in the interior of your offensive line? Powers-Johnson will be your guy. If the NFL lets him slip out of the first round, they've made a mistake.

Honorable Mentions: Tanor Bortolini (IOL, Wisconsin); Javion Cohen (IOL, Miami); Quinyon Mitchell (CB, Toledo); Ricky Pearsall (WR, Florida); Michael Hall Jr. (IDL, Ohio State); Jha’Quan Jackson (WR - Tulane)
