Film Analysis:
Washington’s Edefuan Ulofoshio is a solid linebacker prospect who has had to overcome a lot in his career to get to this point. Ulofoshio is a sixth-year senior with the Huskies and has been a key starter for the team for five straight seasons.
He found early career success in 2020 when he earned All-Pac-12 honors but then injuries marred his 2021 and 2022 seasons. In 2023 when Ulofoshio was fully healthy, he was able to set career highs and be one of the most productive linebackers in the country.
Ulofoshio has above-average size and length and tested outstanding at the NFL Combine. His explosive testing numbers don’t always show up on tape, but he is a good athlete overall.
In the passing game, Ulofoshio flashes good speed to carry tight ends vertically as well as cover ground to get to the flats. He has good short-area quickness to click-and-close on throws that are in front of him and he gets good depth in his zone drops. With that said, Ulofoshio gathers in transitions and shows some lower-body tightness, so pass-catchers can separate from him on sharp-breaking cuts.
In the running game, Ulofoshio is a downhill player who likes to anticipate and shoot gaps to make the tackle at or behind the line of scrimmage. When it works, it looks pretty but it is inconsistent. He is guessing and not seeing it instinctually. There are a lot of times he guesses wrong while leaving his gap, which results in a large gain for the offense. Ulofoshio is a good tackler and he has good stopping power. However, he lacks take-on strength when forced to stack and shed ensuing blockers and often is washed out of the play. He has just average range as a run defender, which is surprising given his outstanding 40-yard dash.
Overall, Ulofoshio is a tough and athletic linebacker who must improve his instincts and take-on strength before he is counted on as an NFL starter.
