Louisville cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr. is an instinctive prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft. A transfer from Florida State, Brownlee Jr. recorded 21 pass breakups and three interceptions across two successful seasons with the Cardinals. Brownlee Jr. previously made 11 starts for the Seminoles.
Brownlee Jr. recently spoke exclusively with The Draft Network about his upcoming Pro Day, playing boundary corner and nickel, which teams have shown interest in his services, and more.
JM: You enjoyed two successful seasons at Louisville, totaling 96 tackles, 21 pass breakups, and three interceptions. How do you look back on your two campaigns with the Cardinals?
Jarvis Brownlee Jr.: I had a great time at Louisville. I had a vision for myself from the moment I got there. I learned how to take care of the little things. The big stuff falls into place when you do that. I ended my college football career the way I wanted to.
Overall, I created some great relationships and bonds at Louisville that will last a lifetime. I met some great coaches and some great teammates. I’m just blessed and thankful they gave me an opportunity.
JM: And now that you’ve had time to reflect, how do you look back on the decision to transfer from Florida State to Louisville?
Jarvis Brownlee Jr.: It was a tough decision in all honesty. Florida State was my dream school coming out of high school. I made some amazing relationships there as well. If I did it all over again, I don’t know what would have happened. That’s the honest truth.
I was very young, I was a kid when I made the decision to enter the portal. I do a better job nowadays not letting my emotions get the best of me. If I had a chance to do it all over again, I probably would have stayed at Florida State.
JM: We appreciate your honesty. You participated in this year’s Senior Bowl. You had an interception in the game. What do you think you proved to NFL scouts and general managers in attendance?
Jarvis Brownlee Jr.: I think I proved that I’m the ultimate competitor. I’m a dog. I’ve always been overlooked and underappreciated. I showed everyone that I belonged at the Senior Bowl. I’m a team-first guy and a great player. I play with toughness and an aggressive mindset.
I’m the best cornerback in the 2024 NFL Draft.
JM: We love that confidence. You recently attended the NFL Combine, but did not participate athletically. Will you be a full participant at Pro Day on March 26?
Jarvis Brownlee Jr.: Yes, I will be a full participant at Pro Day. I’m looking forward to running the 40. That’s probably the main thing I’m looking to do out there. I want to run a good time. It’s all about getting a good start. If I explode out of my stance, I’m going to run a good time. I can have a great result once I get the start that I want.
JM: You’ve played a lot of boundary corner and nickel. You’re versatile that way. Have NFL teams talked about you playing the nickel on a full-time basis moving forward? Your size indicates you may be a better fit inside.
Jarvis Brownlee Jr.: I’ve been getting that a lot, teams talking about me playing the nickel at the next level. Teams are asking me if I like playing inside or outside better. Since I played it this past season, I’ve been telling teams that I really enjoy playing inside. That’s what I’ve been telling the scouts.
I love to tackle and I love to hit. Playing inside keeps me a little closer to the backfield. I can help out in run support. I like playing inside the box because that’s where all the action happens. I’ll probably play the nickel at the next level.
JM: With the NFL Combine now in our rearview mirror, do you have any upcoming Top 30 Visits or virtual meetings coming up?
Jarvis Brownlee Jr.: I will be visiting Nashville for a meeting with the Tennessee Titans. I previously visited the Miami Dolphins. I have meetings with the Arizona Cardinals and Indianapolis Colts coming up as well. I have a few more lined up.
JM: There’s a lot of interest in you and it’s easy to see why. We’ve appreciated your time. What kind of impact is Jarvis Brownlee Jr. going to make at the next level?
Jarvis Brownlee Jr.: I’m going to make an unbelievable impact at the next level. That’s all I can say. Whatever team drafts me is going to get a great guy. I love the game of football. I play with a chip on my shoulder.
I’m a team-first guy. I even love playing special teams. I’m going to find my best fit and apply myself. Whichever team drafts me is going to get a dog. I’m aggressive. I play with toughness around the ball.
Get ready for the show.
