Film Analysis:

In 2024, Tyler Warren became everything and more for the Nittany Lions offense. One of the nation’s most productive and alignment-versatile chess pieces, Warren earned snaps as both an in-line and flex tight end, a perimeter wideout, running back, quarterback, and at center. His skill set continued to evolve as the year progressed, holstering WR1-type volume from QB Drew Allar.

Warren was a one-man show much of the year and is a player who projects immediately as a three-down contributor in both facets of an offense. While his production remained inconsistent due to a deep depth chart in the years prior, Warren finished the regular season (and conference title weekend) with more than 1,000 yards receiving, showcasing his ability to dominate the intermediate areas of an offense no matter how much attention he draws in coverage.

In space, Warren moves extremely well at his size, showcasing quick feet and a diversified route tree. He has electric footwork and can create separation quickly off the line of scrimmage. Can overpower smaller defenders and outrun larger, more physical opponents. Natural hands-catcher—the ball rarely gets into his frame. Comfortable in finding soft spots in zone and is relentless in working through contact. Will fight relentlessly over the middle of the field for space. Creative runner after the catch and is always falling forward for extra yards. Has the burst to challenge for the endzone. Tough runner that is extremely tough to bring down. Finishes runs by lowering his shoulder for every extra inch.

As a run blocker, Warren looks to put defenders in the grass. He plays with a nasty demeanor that can, at times, see him play over his toes and lose a rep. His technique is fine at this point in his evaluation, as his willingness to stick his face in the trenches presents a floor for success. Has experience as an H-back, serving as the lead blocker on sweeps and tosses (Michigan). Will not overpower opponents but will remain engaged as long as he has to. Plays with a solid base and technique when asked to stay in in max protection situations.

Concerns remain about Warren’s release package and his technique against more nuanced pass rushers. Will look to lean and utilize his body weight to overpower defenders rather than engaging, locking out, and running his feet through contact. Very coachable trait, however.

Overall, Warren is a high-level playmaker from the tight end position who will make an impact in multiple phases. His movement skills and comfortability in space showcase one of the country’s premier pass-catchers at the position and a potential day-one pick.
