The Week 8 schedule in the Big 12 begins on Friday with an appetizing matchup between Oklahoma State and BYU. The marquee matchup on Saturday afternoon pits Colorado against Arizona. Elsewhere, UCF plays ninth-ranked Iowa State, and Kansas State must overcome a tricky road test at West Virginia.
Big 12 talents around the nation will utilize these opportunities to increase their pre-draft stock. The road to the 2025 NFL Draft is a weekly journey that is crucial to the resume-building process. We've identified five talents in particular worth analyzing in Week 7.
Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona
vs. Colorado defense
What To Look For: We may not receive a better prospect-versus-prospect matchup this season than the one we'll get this weekend between Colorado cornerback Travis Hunter and Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan. The No. 1 and 4 overall prospects, respectively, in our latest Draft Network 100 rankings, their impending showdown is the definition of good on good.
McMillan hasn't scored a touchdown since his four-score showing against New Mexico in Arizona's season debut, but he did torch Kansas State and Texas Tech for nearly 300 combined receiving yards. McMillan is attempting to establish himself as the top-ranked wideout in this class. He'll ironically face competition for that spot from the two-way Hunter, who should cover him on the boundary when Arizona's on offense.
A.J. Haulcy, SAF, Houston
vs. Kansas offense
What To Look For: Safety A.J. Haulcy will be the most pro-ready secondary defender on the field in Saturday's Houston-Kansas showdown. Jayhawks cornerback Cobee Bryant is nursing an injury that has him listed as doubtful. Haulcy is tied with six other defenders for the Big 12 lead in pass breakups with six.
A physical specimen, the 6-foot, 215-pound Haulcy is a densely built defender who chooses violence as his preferred playing style. Though he's previously been best utilized as a close-to-the-line-of-scrimmage safety, his ball production has taken impressive steps forward throughout this campaign.
Kobe Hudson, WR, UCF
vs. Iowa State defense
What To Look For: UCF wide receiver Kobe Hudson (No. 91 overall) is among the most dynamic playmakers in the conference. Hudson put forth his best effort against Cincinnati last weekend, posting seven receptions for 114 yards and a touchdown in a 19-13 defeat. The big-bodied boundary wideout tracks the football extremely well.
The Knights are two-score underdogs versus Iowa State. The Cyclones have a pair of excellent receivers in their own right, Jaylin Noel (No. 88 overall) and Jayden Higgins (No. 101 overall). Hudson will attempt to outshine them in front of NFL evaluators.
Cam Skattebo, RB, Arizona State
vs. Cincinnati defense
What To Look For: Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo ranks second among all Big 12 running backs in rushing yards 773. The 5-foot-11, 215-pound senior has also scored eight touchdowns, trailing just RJ Harvey (nine) for the conference lead. The Sun Devils are slight underdogs against the Cincinnati Bearcats.
Bearcats defensive tackle Dontay Corleone has been dominant since returning to the lineup from a medical scare. The Bearcats have struggled to defend the run this season, allowing a third-worst 163.7 ground yards per contest among all Big 12 defenses. They've gotten better since Corleone returned, but Skattebo will see opportunities to help Arizona State control the time of possession.
Tacario Davis, CB, Arizona
vs. Colorado offense
What To Look For: Returning to the premier matchup that is Colorado at Arizona, Wildcats cornerback Tacario Davis will be tasked with slowing down Shedeur Sanders (No. 8 overall, QB1) and a passing attack that features Hunter and Jimmy Horn Jr. The No. 54 overall in our latest Draft Network 100 prospect rankings update, Davis utilizes length to disrupt throwing windows.
Davis has totaled a conference-high five pass breakups (tied with six other defenders) this season. A potential first-round cornerback, Davis is an ultra-competitive zone coverage cornerback. He’s facing a resume-defining game versus Sanders and Hunter this weekend.
