Miami Dolphins superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill essentially demanded a trade in the locker room following Sunday's incredibly disappointing defeat to the New York Jets. Despite possessing an opportunity to qualify for the postseason, the Dolphins lost 32-20 to a Jets team playing for 2025 NFL Draft order positioning. Hill was incredibly unhappy post-game.
“There’s a lot of things I need to reassess about my career,” a frustrated Hill said. “I have to do what’s best for me and my family. If that’s where, or whatever the case may be, I’m going to open that door for myself. I’m out, bro. It was great playing here, but I have to do what’s best for my career. I’m too much of a competitor.”

Hill is technically signed through 2026, but a trade becomes financially fruitful for the Dolphins in June, when nearly $15 million would be available in savings, according to OverTheCap. The aging Hill remains an asset, and the speedy wideout could garner significant interest on the market. We've identified three potential landing spots.
Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders are currently slated to possess more than $99 million in offseason cap space. That's third-most among all NFL teams. General manager Adam Peters has the required flexibility to make aggressive acquisitions. The Commanders are headed to the playoffs but may require another price-driven injection of talent before truly competing for a Super Bowl appearance in the NFC.
A franchise quarterback is present in Jayden Daniels. The likely Offensive Rookie of the Year winner is elevating the talent around him, but proven pass-catchers are absent outside of Terry McLaurin. Pairing Daniels' deep ball accuracy with Hills' breathtaking speed would be dynamic in Washington.
Las Vegas Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders own the No. 6 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft. Is that early enough to land one of the quarterbacks, Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders? If not, they'll have to pursue a veteran upgrade like Kirk Cousins or Aaron Rodgers. The Raiders are in the QB market this offseason.
Regardless of the ultimate path, more weapons are needed opposite record-breaking rookie tight end Brock Bowers. Trading Davante Adams midseason created a long-term need outside. If veteran general manager Tom Telesco is eyeing a quick reset as opposed to a hard, multi-year rebuild, trading for Hill and pairing him with a new quarterback is an idea that could gain popularity in Vegas.
New England Patriots
Would the Dolphins consider trading Hill within the division? They may view him as a declining player, while simultaneously seeing the New England Patriots as a non-threat in the immediate future. If so, Miami shouldn't spurn interest from the Patriots, should it arise.
The Patriots possess a franchise quarterback in Drake Maye and a desperate need for pass-catchers to help him grow. After winning a meaningless game on Sunday, New England dropped to No. 4 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft order. That could prevent them from having an opportunity to select Travis Hunter. If veteran wideouts are the alternative, Hill could sit atop their offseason wishlist.
