Josh Cameron Scouting Report

Josh Cameron is a powerful, versatile receiver who can be utilized in run-after-catch situations and develop into a reliable possession receiver for an offense.

Draft Grade: Round 3 - Adequate Starter

Strengths:

RAC Ability: Cameron has a filled-out, powerful lower half that gives him strong contact balance and allows him to run through arm tackles, making him an ideal receiver to consistently pick up yards after the catch.

Catch in Traffic: Cameron has shown that he is both willing and effective at making difficult catches in traffic. Whether going vertical to high-point the football in 50/50 situations or working across the middle with multiple defenders around him, he shows the concentration needed to secure the catch.

Alignment Versatility: Because of Cameron’s dense frame and RAC skill set, he can be utilized in multiple alignments. He can line up as an X receiver, move into the slot where he can take jet sweep handoffs, or align in the backfield to create defensive mismatch issues.

High IQ: Cameron demonstrates an in-depth understanding of zone coverage and recognizes when and where to sit down in vacant holes within the defense, consistently making himself available for the quarterback.

Concerns:

Route Running: Cameron is a strong, powerful athlete who tends to rely more on outmuscling defenders than on precision to win on routes. He can improve the finer details of his route running, as precision will become increasingly important at the NFL level.

Consistently Creating Separation: Cameron lacks consistency in creating separation on his routes. This may be due to limited top-end speed or a lack of explosiveness in and out of his breaks.
