“Anim Dankwah has the combination of size/stature, arm length, and strength you desire in a developmental OT prospect.”
Strengths:
Hand/latch strength
Outstanding blend of height, weight, and wingspan
Developmental upside
Concerns:
Low hand carriage
Inconsistent punch timing
Run game temperament
Film Analysis:
Anim Dankwah is physically imposing due to his massive frame/stature. With his 87 ¼” wing span, Dankwah can stall out pass rushers with well-timed punches. Along with his frame, he presents a difficult task to work around or through. In pass protection, he utilizes quick and short sets to cut off the rusher's access to the outside arc. He is an adequate athlete and mover for a 350-plus-pound offensive tackle. Dankwah does a nice job of meeting rushers at the apex of their rush. His punches are packed with power that will rock a defender’s balance and momentum.
As a run blocker, Dankwah operates best on zone runs as a wall-off/wash-down blocker. He will toss defenders to the ground as his hands are fitted before running his feet during the exchange.
Dankwah tends to be a two-handed puncher, opening him up to locking his hip when countered. His punch timing is inconsistent. Paired with his low and wide hand carriage, it leaves him vulnerable with his chest exposed. Despite his massive frame, he does not physically displace defenders in the run game. Pad and hip levels can be too high, decreasing the effectiveness of his blocks. Although he is an adequate athlete, if forced to change directions, he can struggle to stay engaged with his defender.
Dankwah has the physical tools and size for teams to take a flyer on. He’s possibly a swing tackle early on in his career with the potential to develop into a starter.
