Film Analysis:
Tez Walker fits the mold for an NFL outside receiver with his combined height, weight, and speed.
Walker lives and thrives off his vertical speed to generate big plays in the passing game. He can stretch the vertical plane well to win foot races down the field. Walker tracks the ball in flight nicely. He will make routine over-the-shoulder catches, showcasing his concentration and hand-eye coordination.
Walker displays good body control when attacking the ball in the air at its highest point. He makes difficult sideline catches look natural. Walker boasts strong and reliable hands to pluck the ball out of the air and extend outside of his frame.
Walker’s ability to generate separation with his route-running without speed needs improvement. He shows some hip stiffness when trying to sink and get in/out of his breaks with good acceleration. Walker ran a limited route tree during his lone season at North Carolina. Resulting in subpar salesmanship as a route-runner in general. When facing bump-and-run man coverage, he does not offer a robust or effective release package. Too many times, DBs were able to get their hands on to re-route him and throw off timing with the quarterback.
Walker projects as a starter-level Z-receiver with an upside. He has the frame and athleticism to become a starting-level WR2 for an offense. I expect him to operate as a vertical/deep threat to start his career.
