Film Analysis:

Florida State’s Jordan Travis enters the draft as one of the most experienced and successful quarterbacks in the country. Travis originally enrolled at Louisville in 2018 before transferring to Florida State after one year. He was an inconsistent player early on with the Seminoles before really coming into his own in the 2022 season.

This past year, Travis really took the next step posting career highs in all of the major passing categories, leading his team to an undefeated season. Unfortunately, his season was cut short as he suffered a serious broken leg in the second-to-last game of his collegiate career. Travis will likely be a redshirt player in his first year in the NFL as he recovers from his injury.

As a prospect, Travis has a lot to like. First and foremost, he is an outstanding athlete overall and he understands how to use his feet both to extend plays in the pocket and also to gain yards on the ground. Travis was frequently used in the run game on designed QB runs and he displays impressive run instincts and elusiveness.

As a pure passer, Travis displays good timing and accuracy to the short and intermediate areas of the field when he can set his feet. He has a quick release and makes quick decisions. He throws very well when on the run and always looks to make plays when he escapes the pocket.

Travis has just an average overall arm and lacks velocity on some of his throws—especially to the deeper areas of the field. Additionally, when he faces pressure, Travis will rush his decisions and make ill-advised throws. He also really struggles to feel when pressure is approaching him and he takes a lot of unnecessary sacks when he has the opportunity to get rid of the football. Travis has just average overall ball placement when he is not able to set his feet.

Travis is the ultimate competitor and a player 32 GMs would want on their team. His injury and lack of high-end NFL arm talent will likely result in him falling to day three, but he is a player I would target in the middle rounds as I see him becoming a high-end backup at the next level.
