Film Analysis:

Trevin Wallace enters the 2024 NFL Draft after three years at Kentucky in which he saw action in 36 games with 19 starts. The 2023 season was Wallace’s most productive, posting career highs in both tackles and sacks.

Wallace ran an impressive 4.51 40-yard dash with a 37-inch vertical, showcasing that he is an explosive athlete at the linebacker position who is scheme-versatile. This athleticism and explosiveness translate into Wallace’s play, allowing him to make impactful plays in both the run game and in pass coverage.

In the run game, Wallace works downhill with his read steps and works toward the line of scrimmage. Wallace can work under or over blocks to get to the ball-carrier and make the tackle. When Wallace feels confident about the flow of the play, he has a quick trigger and will attack the gap to make the tackle at or behind the line of scrimmage. Wallace's size allows him to be an effective tackler and he has enough power in his tackle to knock ball-carriers back. Pursuing sideline-to-sideline, Wallace has the speed to flow to and close on the ball-carrier to make the tackle. Wallace has good change of direction in the open field with the ability to flow and redirect to get to the ball-carrier and make a tackle.

In pass coverage, Wallace is a smooth, fluid player who can flip his hips and get depth dropping in zone coverage. Wallace is instinctual and has good ball skills, showing the ability to intercept passes if he can get his hands on them. Wallace is also athletic enough to carry receivers on crossing routes and vertical up the field in man coverage.

The improvements for Wallace start with improving his ability to diagnose run plays. Wallace has impactful plays attacking the line of scrimmage and making plays close to the line of scrimmage, but there are moments when he just simply guesses wrong and puts himself out of the play which leaves a hole vacant. This issue can be fixed by just getting more reps and getting more time on task.

Overall, Wallace is a talented inside linebacker who has the traits to develop into a highly productive linebacker in the NFL.
