Johnny Wilson's 3 Best NFL Draft Fits

Florida State wide receiver Johnny Wilson is a big-bodied playmaking prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft. Wilson recorded 41 receptions for 617 yards and two touchdowns this past season. He was a core member of an FSU program that enjoyed an undefeated regular season.

Wilson has rare size for the position at 6-foot-6 and 231 pounds. Despite chatter that he could move to tight end at the next level, the Pacoima, California native displayed elite athleticism as a receiver at the NFL Combine. The Seminoles standout showcased elite explosion with a 37-inch vertical and 10-foot-8 broad jump. He also ran a 4.11 shuttle, which highlights terrific agility and lateral quickness.

We've identified three potential team fits for Wilson in the 2024 NFL Draft.

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS

I expect the Jaguars to target a cornerback or offensive tackle with the No. 17 overall selection in the first round. General manager Trent Baalke should eventually shift his attention to receiver, a position that's endured lackluster results throughout the offseason for Jacksonville.

Baalke signed Gabe Davis to a three-year contract worth $39 million in free agency. The idea was to pair Davis with Calvin Ridley and Christian Kirk, giving franchise quarterback Trevor Lawrence three high-level wideouts at his disposal. Baalke failed to re-sign Ridley, however, who opted for a more lucrative contract with his AFC South rival Tennessee Titans.

The Jaguars haven't done a good enough job surrounding Lawrence with weapons throughout his affordable rookie contract. Look no further than how the Houston Texans are building around C.J. Stroud under similar circumstances.

ATLANTA FALCONS

The Falcons signaled their aggressive pursuit of improvement by signing quarterback Kirk Cousins to a four-year, $180 million contract. Landing Cousins immediately made the Falcons NFC South favorites in 2024. They'll expect to contend for a Super Bowl during Cousins' tenure.

With general manager Terry Fontenot making that sort of financial commitment to Cousins, he must ensure his new franchise quarterback is constantly supported by weapons. Drake London is a legitimate No. 1 wideout, but better depth is required alongside him. Fontenot took a flier on Darnell Mooney, who is coming off a career-worst season. Imposing, towering prospects appeal to Fontenot at receiver. Wilson checks those boxes and he'd be capable of developing into an appropriate WR2 opposite London.

BALTIMORE RAVENS

Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is coming off an MVP campaign. The Ravens struck the right balance on offense last season, pairing the run game with the passing game. Derrick Henry was a massive offseason acquisition, but I don't love what general manager Eric DeCosta has done at receiver.

Odell Beckham Jr. remains an unrestricted free agent and isn't expected to return to Baltimore despite finishing second on the team in receiving yards (565) last season. Special teams ace Devin Duvernay also signed elsewhere in free agency. Rashod Bateman and Nelson Agholor are currently miscast in larger roles.

I'd like to see DeCosta target a big-bodied vertical playmaker a la Wilson. Jackson would appreciate Wilson's massive catch radius on the boundary. Wilson's ability to dominate in the red zone would pair nicely with Jackson.
