Film Analysis:

TreVeyon Henderson is a former 5-star recruit who has been an impactful player for the Buckeye offense since his freshman year at Ohio State. Throughout his career, Henderson has proven to be an electric player with the ball in his hands, and with any small crease in the defense, he can turn those into explosive plays. Henderson plays with patience, vision, and quick feet to navigate the defensive front and find daylight. He is also a natural hands-catcher who can be utilized in the passing game at an elevated level, serving as a mismatch against linebackers and some defensive backs. In 2024, Henderson split carries with his running mate Quinshon Judkins, which may have impacted each back’s opportunity for more carries, but the result was a dominant backfield that helped lead the Buckeyes to a National Championship.

As a runner, Henderson’s ability to identify hard versus soft edges is key to his success. Once he determines if the path is open or closed, he commits and attacks. He runs well behind his pads with a forward lean.

Henderson understands how to manipulate second-level defenders, getting them to aggressively commit to a lane or gap to open up a cut-back opportunity. He uses jump-cuts, side steps, and vertical cuts to evade alley defenders. He strings together moves to force missed tackles in tight spaces. With patience, Henderson is a sudden runner who can shift gears and change directions quickly to get into the open field. He runs well behind his pads and has improved his finishing mentality year after year. He possesses the speed to bounce runs to the outside and outrun the pursuing second-level defenders. Henderson used that speed and burst to generate big, explosive plays.

Henderson is a willing participant in pass protection and has improved his pass protection ability throughout his career, ultimately becoming one of the best pass-blocking backs in the 2025 NFL Draft class.

As a running back prospect, Henderson has two main areas of concern. The first is his contact balance. There are a few examples on film where Henderson is tripped up and goes to the ground when there was an opportunity for an explosive play. The second concern is his injury history. Throughout his career, Henderson has been injured multiple times, which could be an issue for an NFL team and may reduce his role to a rotational back to help sustain his health throughout the season and, ultimately, his career.

In conclusion, Henderson projects as a scheme-versatile, three-down starting running back who can handle a strong workload without losing effectiveness. His potential as a pass protector and pass catcher can raise his pro ceiling if he is coached and developed in those areas of his game.
