Film Analysis:

Brennan Presley projects as a multi-phase playmaker whose toughness and creativity after the catch mask a physical profile that could ultimately shy teams away on draft weekend.

Aligned primarily in the slot, Presley showcases a well-rounded skill set that is fed heavily with targets for the Oklahoma State offense (143 in 2023). Has experience releasing off the line in a static alignment or pre-snap motion. Corners often attempt to press Presley to overwhelm him physically, but Presley showcases the ability to vary his release packages to the inside/out at varying tempos. He has electric change-of-direction ability that can quickly create separation between him and the defender. Has shown the ability to run a full route tree. Lack of size can put players like Presley into a certain bucket, but his experience and production at all three depths showcase an experienced playmaker. He has smooth hands to haul in passes and he is not afraid to mix it up at the catch point. Presley showcases excellent toughness to fight for the football in contested situations and after the catch.

Presley is a creative runner in space who can make multiple defenders miss inside of a phone booth. Not afraid to lower his shoulder to gain extra yards, also. Has excellent foot turnover to accelerate quickly, but his short strides limit the amount of ground Presley can create between him and secondary defenders in pursuit. Highly productive in the Big 12 (2,533 receiving yards before the 2024 season).

Presley’s prospect profile expands when identifying his potential as a core special teams contributor. He remains one of the country’s elite kickoff return specialists whose skill set could be utilized further as a punt returner at the next level. Teams often kicked it away from Presley on punts in an attempt to limit chunk plays and his ability to flip the field. Considering the new kickoff rules now in place at the NFL level, a skill set like Presley’s could be highly prioritized in the later rounds.

Concerns remain about his overall size. While Presley does a fine job in masking his lack of verticality, teams will have major concerns about whether his stature can hold up at the NFL level. While he does a nice job in consistently creating separation at the line of scrimmage, Presley has room to work on his release package. He’ll often display a high chest at the snap, something more experienced and longer corners will take advantage of to halt his momentum. Although Presley is an extremely competitive athlete, he can be overpowered and quickly out-worked at the top of his stem, creating easy opportunities for PBUs and INTs for more athletic defenders.

Overall, Presley is a highly productive pass-catcher whose versatility will remain key in his projection. While teams may not see him as an immediate contributor out of the slot, his ability on special teams could pave the way for targets in due time.
