Jalen Milroe, QB, Alabama

Week 3 Stats: Passing Yards: 196 yards | Rushing yards: 75 | Touchdowns: 5 | INTs: 0 | Completion Percentage: 70.6%

Game Analysis

Jalen Milroe had the biggest resume performance of the weekend. Coming off of a lackluster output offensively against USF, Milroe led this Alabama offense on the road to Wisconsin against a sold-out crowd. Milroe appeared to be dialed in from the very start, being accurate with the football and utilizing his legs to make plays in the passing game and running the football. The best way to describe Milroe's usage of his athletic ability is that he can win games with his arm but he controls games with his legs. Against Wisconsin, Milroe showcased his accuracy and ball placement with some high-level throws that will make NFL decision-makers excited. There appears to be a level of growth and development as a passer under Kalen DeBoer, which is a great sign. In a matchup that some believe was a potential trap game, Milroe from the start played with maturity and leadership. He played his best football of the season and led his team to a dominant win against the Badgers.

Takeaway: Jalen Milroe showed a level of maturity in Week 3 from both his play on the field to his approach to being prepared and executing the task at hand. The arrow is pointing all the way up for Milroe

Current Ranking: QB2

Garrett Nussmeier, QB, LSU

Week 3 Stats: Passing Yards: 285 yards | Touchdowns: 2 | INTs: 1 | Completion Percentage: 60.0%

Game Analysis

Going on the road in a hostile environment to face a South Carolina team with lots of momentum, Garrett Nussmeier had to play well for his team to win and he did exactly that. After LSU quickly found itself down by double digits, this game was on the verge of a blowout but Nussmeier and this offense responded. Every time it seemed to be on the brink of collapsing Nussmier responded. This game for Nussmeier was not only a test of his ability to read defenses, it was a test of his toughness as he was consistently hit and blitzed the entire game. Nussmeier responded by standing in the pocket and delivering accurate passes in the face of pressure. Nussmeier capped off this good performance by leading his team down the field to take the lead with two minutes left. Nussmeier played with grit, toughness, and skill, which are all traits needed to play quarterback in the NFL.

Takeaway: Garrett Nussmeier is quietly making a case for himself to be one of the best quarterbacks in the nation. Playing on the road against South Carolina was a tough test and he passed it.

Current Ranking: QB8

Dillon Gabriel, QB, Oregon

Week 3 Stats: Passing Yards: 291 yards | Rushing yards: 64 | Touchdowns: 3 | INTs: 0 | Completion Percentage: 83.3%

Game Analysis

The word to describe Dillon Gabriel's season so far is consistent. Week 3 marked the third week in a row that Gabriel posted over an 80% completion percentage and threw for two touchdowns. Gabriel started off the game dialed in, completing double-digit passes in a row with no incompletions. Gabriel was accurate with the football throwing from the pocket, but the most impressive thing was his ability to escape the pocket, keep his eyes down the field, and make accurate throws on the move. Gabriel also utilized his legs in the run game, keeping a speed-option play and taking in for a touchdown from more than 50 yards out. In a rivalry game, Gabriel played well and led his team to a dominant win. Gabriel is making it difficult for people to overlook his play as he may be one of the most consistent quarterbacks in college football.

Takeaway: Dillon Gabriel is moving up draft boards due to his talent and skill but also his consistency. Gabriel is displaying early in the season that he has the requisite tools to be an NFL quarterback.

Current Ranking: QB9
